Kane Chamberlain
Director / Owner
I’ve always had a passion for carpentry and the construction industry with a special interest in technology. Particularly innovative new ideas and methods which help make projects more efficient, streamlined and cost-effective.
In addition to a New Zealand qualification in Carpentry, the international project management experience I gained while working in the United Kingdom for a global specialist construction company, put me in a good position to shake up the ‘old school’ way and the future of New Zealand residential construction.
I founded BIM Projects Limited with the goal of renovating and building high end architectural homes for clients who share my passion for well designed, high-quality, warm, dry and functional homes that are inviting and aesthetically appealing to live in.
When I’m not busy leading the BIM Projects team, I often hit the hills for a little trail running and adventure racing and I recently completed one of the oldest original New Zealand trail running adventure races in Te Anau, the 60km Kepler Challenge.
I also love spending time with my two young daughters, taking them to swimming, ballet and of course spending time seeking out new adventures.
I believe my commitment to family and dedication to my work are a strong foundation for my drive, passion and innovative spirit. My team share this culture and we use it to deliver the best outcome for you and your home each and every day.

I thrive on the challenges and depth that my role brings to every project. Each build is unique, and the complexity and variety keep me engaged and continually learning. There’s nothing quite like seeing a project come to life from the ground up and knowing that I’ve played a part in creating a space that people will call home.
My journey to this point has been quite an adventure. I spent nine years serving in the New Zealand Military as a carpenter with the Royal New Zealand Engineers (RNZE). The military taught me discipline, attention to detail, and the importance of teamwork—all qualities that I bring to every project I work on. Transitioning from military life to civilian carpentry in Wellington ignited a deeper passion for residential construction. I found that helping homeowners bring their vision to life was incredibly rewarding.
What motivates me each day is a genuine desire to excel in my field. I take great pride in my work and strive to be the best I can be. I believe that every challenge brings its own windows of opportunity. This mindset helps me approach obstacles with confidence and ensures that I find effective solutions. It’s important to me that the homeowners I work with feel that the process is stress-free and that they can trust me to deliver high-quality results on time.
One of my proudest accomplishments was working on unique building opportunities during my time in the military and beyond. Each project has presented new challenges and rewards, and these experiences have reinforced my commitment to professionalism and excellence. I’m currently working towards my Licensed Building Practitioner (LBP) and Construction Management qualifications because I believe that continuous learning is key to providing the best service possible.
Outside of work, I enjoy spending quality time with my family and friends, walking my dog, fishing, and keeping fit. These activities help me maintain a balanced life and keep me energized for the work I love. Fun fact: I’m a triplet—though we’re not identical! I like to keep things light-hearted and believe in enjoying life and having a good laugh whenever possible.
A piece of advice that has always stuck with me from my military days is, “Slow is smooth, smooth is fast.” Mastery comes with practice and patience, and I apply this philosophy to ensure that every aspect of your project is handled with care and precision.
I’m all about building trust and forming genuine connections with the people I work with. If you’re looking for a friendly, highly skilled professional who values quality workmanship and attention to detail, I’m here to make your home renovation a smooth and enjoyable experience. I look forward to the opportunity to work with you and turn your dream home into a reality.

I love being part of the journey from the first brick to the final coat of paint. There’s something incredibly satisfying about guiding a build through every stage, knowing that in the end, we’re creating not just a house, but a home.
Originally from England, I took an unexpected path into construction. I started my career in collateral investment banking, but I soon realized that I craved the outdoors and the hands-on satisfaction of building. My wife and I moved to New Zealand, and I decided to follow my passion for construction. It was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made, and it’s been an amazing ride ever since.
I believe that if something is worth doing, it’s worth doing right. There’s no point in putting your name on something if you’re not proud of it, and that’s the mindset I bring to every project. One of my proudest accomplishments is a large extension we completed in Plimmerton. From the planning to the final touches, it was a project that required precision, skill, and attention to detail – and I loved every minute of it.
When challenges come up, I tackle them with research, planning, and a can-do attitude. It’s important to me that everyone on the team feels comfortable approaching me with questions because that’s how we support each other and deliver the best results. I’m a big believer in creating a stress-free environment, not only for our clients but for the team as well. It’s part of what makes the process smooth and enjoyable.
Outside of work, you’ll find me with a fishing rod in hand, or playing any sport I can get involved in. Fun fact: I once cycled from Land’s End to John o’ Groats in 17 days. And when it comes to fishing, I might be best fisherman you know!
I look forward to continuing to grow in my role, getting my LBP, and taking on even more responsibility with future builds. At the end of the day, it’s all about quality, trust, and making the process as seamless as possible for you. I can’t wait to bring your vision to life!

I’m excited to be on the path toward starting my apprenticeship. What I love most about this job is seeing the tangible results of my work. There’s something incredibly rewarding about knowing that I’ve contributed to a home that brings joy to its owners. The smile on a client’s face when they see the final product is what drives me every day.
My interest in building began when I helped out with home renovations. I quickly realized how much I enjoyed working with my hands and wanted to learn more. This passion led me to pursue a career in the construction industry, and it’s been an exciting journey so far. Although I’m still early in my career, the support and guidance from my colleagues at BIM Projects make every challenge an opportunity to grow.
I’m proud to have represented New Zealand in cricket at the Under-19 level, playing in both India and South Africa. In the building industry, I’m just getting started, but I can’t wait to see what I’ll achieve, especially as I work toward completing my apprenticeship. I’m a team player at heart and believe that challenges are best approached with an open mind and a collaborative spirit.
When I’m not on-site, you’ll probably find me running or playing cricket—two things I’m truly passionate about. These activities help me stay focused, energized, and ready to tackle whatever comes next.
My biggest piece of advice for anyone starting out in this industry is not to be discouraged by mistakes. They’re part of the learning process, and each one brings valuable lessons that help you grow. I’m looking forward to building my skills and expertise with BIM Projects, and I can’t wait to be part of your home-building journey.

What I enjoy most about my role is the balance it provides between learning and growing in my field, while still having time for the things that matter most to me—like spending time with my family and pursuing my passion for music. The 4-day work week gives me the space to focus on delivering high-quality work while maintaining a healthy work-life balance.
My path to construction was a bit unconventional. After spending several years in administrative roles, including working as a receptionist for NZSIS and GCSB (New Zealand’s government spy agencies), I realized that sitting behind a desk wasn’t where I belonged. I wanted to work with my hands and be part of something tangible. That’s what led me to building, and I’ve never looked back. There’s something special about helping to create someone’s dream home, knowing that it will be enjoyed for years to come.
What motivates me every day is setting a strong example for my son. I want him to be proud of his dad and see the value of hard work and dedication. I’m also proud of some personal achievements along the way—like playing in nationals for college softball, being the highest academic-achieving Māori in my senior year, and making representative rugby teams throughout my youth. These experiences shaped who I am today and fuel my determination to excel in my role.
Music is another big part of my life. I play guitar at my church every Sunday in front of a congregation of 400+ people, as well as at larger events. It’s a passion that brings me joy and teaches me the importance of patience, practice, and precision—values I carry into my work. And as a fun fact, I love baking, even though I’m not the best at it. So, if anyone ever needs a taste-tester, I’m your guy!
If I had one piece of advice for someone starting out in this field, it would be to never stop learning. The construction industry is always evolving, and there’s always something new to master. I’m excited to continue developing my skills, completing my apprenticeship, and contributing to the high standards BIM Projects is known for.
I’m excited to continue growing in my role here at BIM Projects, working on new skills, seeing such high quality projects come to life and being part of such a professional, friendly team.
